What is the appropriate pressure for the membrane deamination system while it's running?

Each type of hydrophobic membrane has a specific tolerance pressure for wastewater penetration. If the tolerance pressure is exceeded, the membrane pores will slowly allow water to penetrate, causing non-fatal failure of the membrane contactor system. Regeneration is required after such failure, which results in a lot of post-processing work. Therefore, it is essential to operate the membrane contactor system below the withstand pressure to maintain its normal performance. Several factors can affect the hydrophobic membrane's pressure resistance, including the surface tension of wastewater, the affinity between wastewater and the membrane material, and the pore size of the membrane material. The pressure resistance varies under different water quality conditions due to varying surface tension and affinity with the material. For instance, high concentrations of COD in wastewater can decrease the surface tension and the membrane contactor's withstand pressure. In such cases, pretreatment measures are necessary before operating the system. When wastewater's surface tension is too low, changing the pore size of the membrane material and increasing pressure resistance is required to ensure stable operation of the system. Ideally, the membrane contactor system should operate stably under the penetration pressure of a specific medium solution. However, high water pressure can cause the medium solution to invade the membrane pores, reducing the mass transfer capacity. Therefore, maintaining low pressure on both sides of the membrane (referring to low-pressure conditions) and reducing pressure fluctuations as much as possible is necessary during normal operation. 

It is recommended to maintain the pressure range shown in the table while the system is running.
